This doesn't really have anything in particular to do with mom, except
insofar as, perhaps, mom's users are more likely to be demanding in the
font department.

We've had a hard time getting this task over the finish line; we've had
volunteers over the years but so far no patches.

My inclination for groff 1.24 is to add the script into an
"install-font" subdirectory of "contrib/", have a groff build install it
to an "examples/" directory, and refer to it from the gropdf(1) and
grops(1) man pages.

The problem I'm more keen to solve personally is to provide a
non-interactive script that distributions can use in their package
"maintainer" or "trigger" scripts to refresh groff's idea of which fonts
are installed. Properly testing such a thing is not my idea of "fun",
which is why I've put it off. (Expressed demand has also been lacking.)

ImagMagick might be a good place to start. In the Good Old Days "convert -list font" would yield something worthwhile.

Then again, you might ask Peter Schaffter.

It might also be that the lack of expressed demand is because most people on this list do know what fonts they use and where they are.
