Personally, I have always been shocked and repulsed by the longstanding - and always hotly defended by various well-meaning Portuguese - caricatures of Costa with giant lips and far-darker-than-he-is skin. Trump is responsible for lots of things, but not racism in Portugal, which has deep-seated racial anxieties in-built into the society.
