As usual AI can be a useful way of getting information but there is no guarantee that information is necessarily correct, although I am often surprised by how good it is becoming. AI is becoming more than a simple parrot. I have found it useful in many cases for basic Linux information and sometimes even more complex issues but sometimes incorrect on details. Doesn't beat the actual documentation but can provide useful clues on where to start looking and what to look for. Like all tools it needs to be used appropriately and with caution.
Some of what I suggested to Julie was initially provided by AI which does appear to access the mailing list archives and is getting better at referencing where its info is coming from. I then loaded up the flatpak version of GnuCash which I don't normally use and verified that what had been suggested was correct and wouldn't at least do any harm. We all learned by trying things, making mistakes and working out how to fix them with fewer mistakes as we gained knowledge. I still remember my introduction to the Linux world and the confusion of different distributions and generic Linux that didn't always work on my system.
