Julie - No worries if you don’t have those emails. Have you tried visiting the archive for old messages?
I believe below mail archive site does automagically. Hey Y'all, For a few days now I've been trying to figure out what is going on with my linux mint 22.2 zara cinnamon... when I run a report in gnucash it crashes and I have to REISUB. I am reminded that upon installation early in this year, i had this same situation. My recollection is that one of you nice peeps gave me some quick code to do something with (??????) regarding my NVIDIA, which worked like a charm. I had high aspriations at that time, and remember trying to keep immaculate notes on what was each problem/issue and what I did to fix it. I thought I made a folder for the emails I received. Thinking I was so clever, I looked for that email (although i haven't changed anything since I originally made the fix). I'm not shocked that I can find neither a reference a .doc nor the email. However, I am plenty chagrinned. Looking on the internet, I find at bugs.gnucash.org 798486/799095 a description of the issue https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799095 but typing "WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 flatpak run org.gnucash.GnuCash" into terminal only seems to make gnucash try unsuccessfully to open my file in terminal each time? Reading down in the bug report, Chris says he upgraded his driver to Nvidia-driver-535 (version 535.113.01-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 I would love to update my driver (wouldn't I?) but I ask the computer to and it says no udates are needed. I don't know how to do this. Next, in the bug report, what does all this mean: I am hit with the same bug (NVIDIA GT 1030). The error messages on the console suggest, that there exists a problem with VA-API. Indeed, vainfo casts an unknown libva error, as the propietary NVIDIA drivers do not support VA-API. Nouveau on the other hand do, so I switched to the Nouveau driver, and pretty sure the reports reappeared. So, to summarize: Webkit, which is used to render the reports, decided lately they require the VA-API, and only this. VDPAU, which is supported by the NVIDIA drivers, is not even tried. So please: disable accereration in Webkit (I believe this is webkit_settings_set_enable_webgl()), or switch to another renderer that supports VDPAU too. The WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 disables the composting mode completely and so avoids VA-API also. Basically, I'm looking for commands I can type into terminal (or???) in the hope that one fixes my issue. I'm not sure this is even the right approach... As I read on, I don't know if I should try uninstalling and reinstalling another version of gnucash? Get a different video card? I too rely on gnucash for tracking my finances, and soon I will need to run some reports so I'd love to figure out what to do. In my world, it is a gnucash issue because that is the program i am using and that is crashing. :-( so I keep posting here. Plus, it is a gnucash person who resolved it for me in the past. If Wm, David or Patrick looked back in their email from january, february, march or april to see if they sent [email protected] any emails, it might be in there. Sadly, I have looked back in my gmail and it has no record of any meaningful communications with any of these guys prior to the last week :-( Julie _______________________________________________ gnucash-user mailing list [email protected] To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user ----- Please remember to CC this list on all your replies.
