A great deal of success and a few failures.
turned on computer this morning and go to gnucash in linux mint
cinnamon, and i get this:
bbbsiaccounting is no longer a file under Gnucash in linux
If i click open anyway, i do get there, but that is probably not the
proper way to do it.
For the quarter 10/01/2024 to 12/31/2024 my entries and amounts match my
bank statements! *CHEERS*, but like opening my acct, it is not the way i
think it should be. Specifically my balance from the bank
statement, which showed in Nov ending does to move to the beginning of
the month of Dec. My grand total is fine with the debit and credits for
the month, but the only way i can match the bank statement is to add the
nov bank close statement to the transaction report total and it
matches. So you can see i am thrilled, but concerned, that my bank
closing statement balance are not moving to the next month. Thank you....b³

Bob,
A note on your comments. While I understand your frustration (believe me-- been
there!), badmouthing a volunteer team of programmers who have provided this
software package free of charge--and supported it for nearly 30 years--is
really not a good look.
GnuCash has continued to grow and evolve throughout its existence because of
the dedication of a (remarkably) small group of programmers, and they have made
the best decisions they could with the resources at hand. That they haven't
always made the choices that you or I would have is no justification for
attacking them.

Hi Bob
First rule of GnuCash - please always reply to the mailing list so that

Stand up double, but then how do i print it
I run GnuCash on a Windows computer, and printing a report is pretty
easy. Once you have sorted out your Report Options and are ready to
print, do this:
* Main Menu, File, Print Report (shortcut is Ctrl-P)
You can also create a PDF file instead, using:
* Main Menu, File, Export as PDF
I don't have any experience with GnuCash on MAC or Linux, but expect
that printing is fairly similar.
Hope this helps.

PS Thanks for your help. I could never ever have ever found what
your
simple, explicit directions directed me to. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND
WHAT
CODE WRITER'S ARE THINKING WHEN THEY COME UP WITH THEIR SOLUTIONS.
There has to be a simpler way. How many Geoffs do we have to correct
their problems?
*THANK YOU*....b³

Hi Bob
Welcome to the wonderful (and sometimes slightly confusing) world of
GnuCash!
How do i select my checking acct to be able to print it
transaction
report?
Under: reports, transaction report: No acct selected????????
Under "No accounts selected", click on "Edit report options"
This will open a new window with multiple Tabs at the top - click on
the "Accounts" Tab.
Click on the little triangle beside "Assets" in the "Accounts"
panel.
Keep clicking these little triangles until you see your Checking
Account.
Click on its name - it should show as highlighted.
Next, click on the "General" Tab and review or modify the Start Date
and End Date.
Finally, click on "OK" in the bottom right corner.
Sit back and relax as GnuCash shows you all the transactions in that
account for the selected date range.
Alternative method for viewing transactions in a *single* account:
(1) From the Chart of Accounts home page, open the Account as
normal.
(2) From the Reports menu, choose "Accounts Report".
Hope this helps.

Geoff
