I want to move my present GC (version 4.13) settings including reports  to be used on the other (version 5.9)
Exactly, how do I do it?  (the "migrate" wiki is not helpful for me)
Thanks,

Saying using a 'nix OS and saying two versions of the PROGRAM on the machine isn't enough information. All 'nix OSs support multiple USERS (actually would support multiple simultaneous users though few have the hardware set up allow that (multiple keyboards, screens, etc.) so usually just multiple sequential users.

So.... are you intending to use your two versions of gnucash as the same user or as separate users. Remember, while you are a single human, your computer doesn't know that. Back when I had a 'nix up I had three logins, administrator, test, and myself. This was soon after initially retiring; I was used to having multiple log ins at work, for example my usual "development" log in and an emergency use only "production" login << used only when needing to fix production after hours when I might not have a "production team" person on site -- otherwise I'd tell a production team person "do this or that", "submit this job for me" etc. >>

Same user vs separate user are DIFFERENT problems (the latter is trivially easy)
