Making digital copies into cloud, albeit in a foggy one, is a lot easier than sending paper copies to Iron Mountain for safe keeping. Then there is cost of keeping digital copies vs physical copies.
Most vendors -- at least credit cards, banking and investment houses -- provide digital copies of most types of statements that can be downloaded easily.
