As the treasurer of a small, 5019(c)3 with no liabilities, I set up my
Gnucash file in the same order as I will present my monthly reports. I
have v 5.8+ and Windows 11.
After much trial and error I was able to get an account summary for
6/30/2024. My records begin with June 1, 2024. However; no matter what I
do I cannot get a summary report for the month of July.
Saying "monthly" only tells us the frequency of the report. What KIND
of report do you want? What do you want to see on the report? I'll
describe some examples based on some of the sorts the boards of
organizations I have kept books wanted.
example 1 a "Revenue Statement" (Statement of Revenues and
Expenses" --- a for profit business would call it "Profit &
Loss" This report would show the total income and
expenses for the month ans the net gain or loss for the period.
example 2 a "Balance Sheet" This is for a single date, so
you want two, one for the start of the period and one for the end. You
actually only run for the end as the previous end is the start of the
current (so you do start just the first time) This report shows changes
in assets and liabilities along with the net gain or loss since the
income and expense accounts last closed. Since gnucash users rarely
close the books, ignore.
example 1 and 2 presented together.
NOW --- if you want a report showing something else, tell us. Running
reports at random and telling us not what you want to see doesn't tell
us what you want to see.
