Hi David: I was instructed to import into Assets. But I have tried everything – Bank, cash, accountsreceivable, accountspayable. The results are all the same.
Here is my import (my last try I used AccountsPayable) as a last ditch attempt. I think I have tried everything else. !Type:Cash D07/29'23 U0.00 T0.00 PCustomer1 MCottage #4 Bkg 1047 07/29/2023-08/05/2023 L SIncome:Business Income:Cottage Rental:Cottage #4 ECottage #4 Bkg 1047 07/29/2023-08/05/2023 $1300.00 SIncome:Business Income:HST Collected ECottage #4 Bkg 1047 HST $169.00 SAPayable:Accounts Payable ECottage #4 Bkg 1047 07/29/2023-08/05/2023 $-1469.00 ^ D07/31'23 U1469.00 T1469.00 PCustomer1 MCottage #4 Bkg 1047 Payment bank draft L SAPayable:Accounts Payable ECottage #4 Bkg 1047 Payment bank draft $1469.00 ^ From: David Carlson <david.carlson....@gmail.com> Sent: August 5, 2023 11:40 AM To: Gyle McCollam <gmccol...@live.com> Cc: Brenda Leudke <leu...@gmail.com>; gnucash-user@gnucash.org Subject: Re: [GNC] QIF Import Problem Brenda, GnuCash also supports QIF imports as they are exported from many financial institutions. The Quicken file import used by Gnucash is QFX, not QIF? I don't know anything about the format of the import file, but I did a quick download of a QFX file and the layout looks very different. I hesitated to respond, because I don't know much about how it works, I just know it works fine for me and the only difference was QIF vs QFX. Gnucash will also import OFX and CSV files if you want to try a different format. I didn't see any responses to your question, so I decided to offer what little help I could. I am trying to import a QIF file into gnucash. Gnucash is entering everything as a debit. I can't verify this but am being told that it works with Quicken. Is there a problem with the file or is there a problem with gnucash? I would appreciate any help.
