Hi there,
Would it be possible to state some dates for upcoming new releases?
The stable branch probably can have a new release every 1-2 weeks ATM. But
PLEASE make the dates known beforehand AND schedule at least 2-3 days of
STRING FREEZE before that. The translations in 1.6.0 were not perfect,
which is fine, but further releases in 1.6.x should really be improvements
in terms of the translations as well. This means that follow-up releases
should have *more* translated strings and not less. That's what a string
freeze is for.
What is the timescale for a new major release in the stable branch, i.e.
version 1.8 ? I know we have a whole bunch of new ideas which is great.
OTOH I would prefer to release often and add new features in smaller steps
rather than not having anything new in the stable branch for the next 12
months... There is one big milestone coming up: The introduction of the
EURO on Jan 1st, 2002 (totally replacing any other currency in the member
countries). I would like to provide some sort of druid for all users from
Euroland to help them switching their account from DEM,FRF,... to EUR. A
druid for that would *have* to be released by November 2001. Therefore I
would suggest to schedule a 1.8 release for October 2001.
What do people think?
Christian
