I have applied the patch to geotools trunk? Not sure if we want to apply it
to 2.7.x?
I have also renamed things so it is obvious Maven 2 and Maven 3 both work.

Is there any difference to the maven repository structure after a deploy? I
will continue using Maven 2 until we can sort out how to go ahead?
