I think the JAVA 11 breaks native JAI so disabling the JAI-EXT is not an option when running geoserver on JAVA 11.
Has anyone install geoserver on JAVA 11 without any issue with slow running WMS GetMap request? I've never enabled jai-ext, because it gave me a lot of errors, and huge memory consumption...often leading geoserver to an halt!! I've noticed a section "*Outdated*: install native JAI and ImageIO extensions" in Geoserver Manual. https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/production/java.html#outdated-install-native-jai-and-imageio-extensions Shin, Joseph wrote > java version "1.8.0_211" > > Profiling the JVM, I've located the issue to be in the JAI-EXT. > > With 2.15.1 upgrade, the JAI-EXT operations are enabled by default and > disabling seem to greatly improve the performance of WMS GetMap request. > With JAI-EXT enabled, a sample WMS GetMap request took about 15 minutes. > With JAI-EXT disabled, the same sample WMS GetMap request took about > 10 seconds. > > > > > Joseph Shin > Software Developer Advisor > > T 619.881.2471 | M 858.444.7659 > Joseph.Shin@ > 1615 Murray Canyon Rd. #600 > San Diego, CA 92108 > www.gdit.com > > > > "We are what we repeatedly do.
