Glad to hear! it may help others!
I've never enabled jai-ext, because it gave me a lot of errors, and huge
memory consumption...often leading geoserver to an halt!!

I've noticed a section "*Outdated*: install native JAI and ImageIO
extensions" in Geoserver Manual.
