Hi Barry
I have tried to load the war file through the Tomcat Manager-Gui but I get
a file too big error.

Did you wipe the existing ../tomcat/webapps/geoserver/  dir?
You would not like to have half a directory before letting tomcat deploy
the war.

>From the above I would guess that you have a permission problem - which is
easily detected by running the tomcat startup.bat in a command prompt
started as administrator.
