I use gnome because i like gnomes simplistic approach, because i like evolution, nautilus, totem, the gnome terminal, gtk+ and especially gtkmm (c++ api for gtk+ - qt folks should really take a look at it) and lot's of great gtk+ based programs like inkscape, gimp, gvim, beep-media-player, ...
