TKIP is long deprecated due to security issues, and thus support
for it is nowadays disabled by default on Gentoo. It might be that
the service was previously configured to not use TKIP, but that
restarting it has returned to that as a default. If there's no way
to get this changed, you should check that the `tkip` USE flag is
enabled on wpa_supplicant.
