Sure - I understand wanting it simple now bu having the capabilities in the future. Makes sense. > > BTW, talking about tuner cards, am I mistaken to think that 3 tuners = 3 > connections and 3 diff channels at the same time? Actually it's two tuners in my house - a PVR-250 and a PVR-150 running with ivtv from their sight. Works much better than what's available through portage but still has a number of issues. It's getting quite good though. In my dad's house I set up a PVR-150 so they can only record one show at a time. The tuner cards only tune channels 1-125 I think. This works for over the air or analog cable. I don't do it but the PVR cards have SVideo inputs and can be tied into an SVideo output from a settop box so that there are some mechanisms for recording whatever the box you tie it to will output. I think most of the boxes will output digital cable over SVideo but not over 1394. Again, I do none of this so I could hae it completely wrong. Also, should you want to record from your settop box then you also need to control its tuner. I think there are ways to do this with some boxes but I haven't bothered trying yet.
