Had I known this option existed I would have set it a long time ago. Although, now I am concerned that my IQ may be caused to decline since I will not be soaking up learning via the osmotic process of blankly staring at builds screaming by on my machine. For those that want to see the build output in real time, for development purposes or otherwise, it is trivial to change on a more permanent basis via EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS or on a case by case basis by adding --quiet-build=n to the command invocation.
