This is not black and white. For instance, I have forked and heavily modified a couple of Apache projects to remain compatible but for operation in an OSGi environment. I can't change the namespace, since I have no control over the 1000s or more dependencies that may be many levels away from the "OSGi user". My own legal conclusion was that this case was within the legal requirement. Noel keep pointing out that we are not authorized to give legal advice on behalf of the ASF, which is correct. My *personal* advice is to read the license very carefully, consult your own lawyer if appropriate, and draw conclusions. If in doubt, contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] For this case, I see little or no reason (as Paul points out) to keep the org.apache.tsik namespace.
