Can't any ASL licensed artifact be posted to ibiblio?
yes
Does that fact not completely circumvent the whole intention of making a separate incubating repository?
no making a separate incubation repository seemed like the right action at the time. times change. opinions develop. people are now generally comfortable with the idea of podlings creating releases. it's also clear now that incubator releases are official apache releases from a legal perspective but not from a branding perspective. the substantial question is whether we should still be using that repository now and revolves around branding. it's not whether artifacts are available from ibiblio (or anywhere else) but whether this practice is officially sanctioned by apache or now. when thought of in those terms, the current intention is not circumvented but this opens up the question of whether apache is making the right tradeoff between the risk of potental reputational damage due to poor quality podling releases against actual reputational damage resulting from this arrangement (which is somewhat annoying for users and developers). i wonder whether versioning policies (all podling release versioned 0.x) may be more effective. someone using apache-podling-INCUBATING0.2 - robert --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
