Has the site been changed to get files from TEMP_HTML on an svn update?
It is still the same, just that you have the choice to use the old *.cwiki or the new *.html
The either/or aspect is far from obvious to me. So updating the cwiki, then doing the generation and update on the Web system still works?
Yes.
If someone were to want to move to HTML, would it create the foo.html and then delete the foo.cwiki?
Yes.
Actually, to keep SVN references, I rename the .cwiki file to .html in svn and modify the contents to be in html.
One can technically use the old cwiki format or the plain html format, although I would strongly suggest to move to html.
Okay, i agree that no-one has yet made the effort to update the howtoparticipate.html doc to explain this slight change and to note that Forrest-0.6 release is now used.
See, it doesn't appear to be a 'slight change' to *me*. Possibly to you, since you're a part of the change process, but noe to me. From here it looked like a significant change of direction, not the addition of an alternative path.
I have made a branch for it, sent a couple of mails about this on this list, and then merged in the trunk... I thought it was all explicit enough, sorry if it was not the case.
BTW, the I had also corrected the docs on the site explaining to use html as a source format. The only thing on the site that is missing is the TEMP_HTML dir.
Forrect-0.6.. Is that still the one that needs to be executed out of someone's directory on the Apache system? Or is that no longer functional and generation needs to be done locally again?
It's the same as before.
We just updated it to the released 0.6 version, so that there are no more version mismatches.
...
I'm certain everyone has good intentions, and that no-one is tryng to make things harder.
These changes were meant to ease the system, by using html as a source format and a released forrest version.
I decided to convert all files to html except the faq, because it uses a special DTD, and the cwiki files, as I didn't want to accidentally tamper with them in the process. Because of that, to ease the work on mentors, I put the automatically generated html *source* files in TEMP_HTML, so that they already had a base to check and to use.
Probably me being too paranoid and making things harder without need :-/
In any case, if someone is less paranoid then me, he can switch all cwiki files to html by using the versions in TEMP_HTML ;-) (if they were not changed in the meantime).
