I'm wondering if users will think the padlock icon should function as a button to toggle the “locked” state of a layer, as in the GIMP. In this case, the layer is not so much locked as it is a “virtual” layer that is computed based on other data. Perhaps italicized text would be enough to at least indicate there is something special about those layers.
