Really, Gaby? Consider that there are hundreds of other open bugs. Would you accept a 1% hit to fix each? GCC is slower than it used to be because of dozens and dozens of 1-2% performance regressions. Why is this problem so important that a 1% speed regression for *all* programs would be acceptable?
