A better question might be: Has Intel provided Apple with an OS X version of their compiler? If so (and I think it very likely), Apple may have little incentive for supporting GCC, given how well Intel's compilers perform.
Well that's probably jumping to a conclusion without sufficient data, after all there are scads of people choosing to use gcc over the Intel compilers (and I am talking about commercial situations, where cost etc is not the issue). Presumably Apple will take a close look at this, and indeed may provide some useful input on the issue.
