In this case, the GCC developers really do intend to use your email address to send you mail. These might include requests for more information on the bug if it is needed, as well as messages that indicate when the bug is fixed. It also helps assure that the bug filer is a real person. If Bugzilla provided an anonymous way to file Bugzilla reports, we'd probably have spammers filling the bug database with ads for penis enlargement.
