Hi Ibrahim.

I actually use winfrotz anyway sinse I find that the screen layout is a little more friendly to supernova than filfre, plus of course winfrotz will play dat and zip files like Arthur.

As far as superhero games, well I didn't play Earth and sky because I have a thing about superheroes, indeed I personally am less a fan of that genre (I find the current thing with so many superhero films, most of which have the same plot less than enspiring). With earth and sky though I played Paul Obrian's wearing the claw which I enjoyed (again, great for logical puzzles), and his game lash which was a fantastic semi historical scifi robotic adventure and one of the best if games I've played, so thought I'd try his others and very much enjoyed them, particularly with the puzzles involving combat.

futureboy I only ever played the demo version of to write the entry for audiogames.net, I didn't particularly try more of it, though it did look an interesting game especially with the sounds and music added.

As to 1893, that's not one I've heard of unfortunately.

I have not played any of Emily short's other games, mostly because her articals on if and literature and indeed the descriptions of her other titles didn't appeal to me as much, (particularly since I am a little suspicious of her brand of feminism). With pytho's mask however, I was interested to try the game primarily because it relied upon it's conversations for it's puzzles, rather than being exclusively an object manipulation affair as in most if, which was an idea I rather liked, so I gave that one a try and was rather impressed with the game.

I always meant to try Short's game galatea because it was said to feature the same sort of conversational style but to a greater extent.

Btw, some games that make a very good use of this style of gameplay, (especially if you like murder mysteries), are the inspector cindy games from http://www.7128.com/getgames.html#inspectorCyndiGames these are stand alone programs rather than written in an if language, but feature some highly atmospheric music and sound, as well as video clips with voice. The entire game involves wandering around to various locations talking to different characters about a given mystery, and then trying to solve the mystery at the end.

unfortunately demos are not available anymore, but the games are comparatively inexpensive and if you enjoy murder mystery and conversational style interactive story games I'd distinctly recommend giving them a try.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.
