tom hit nvda 2 to turn off the speaking of characters that are typed.
turn it back on when finnished it will also do as you described with
win7 defrag console mode and chkdsk and maybe other console programs.

Atlantic City Blackjack, Run for President, etc where NVDA spells

slightly insane. However, if I shut NVDA up with the control key and
read the screen with the review keys its fine, but when the screen of
text first comes up NVDA just sits there and spells everything. Has
anyone ever seen this problem before, and is there a fix for it?
