Hi, Nicol.
SOD is a sci-fi game. It has many sci-fi elements like cyborgs, mutants,
teleporters, etc. The genre is sci-fi and the style of play is first
person action shooter.
The Star Wars game I am writing is also a sci-fi but it goes under the
sub genre of Star Wars sinse all the enemies and characters are Star
Wars. The style like SOD is First Person Shooter.
One major difference I would like to point out that SOD is basicly a 2d
game. I am really thinking about creating true 3D objects in Star Wars,
but that could be possably very complex to play since things would be
above and below you as well as the basic directions.
You might be getting shot at, and if you look up you see a Storm Trooper
above you on a metal catwalk firing a blaster at you.
Although, the Jedi Knight games were fun that way as there were usually
alternative routes in to a room. For example to access a control room
the main door might be locked, but upstairs you would find a airvent or
grate, cut it open with your light saber, and drop in on top of the
enemy and start kicking butt.
