sorry, at one point you say that you are planning to use cognitive scores, then in the next sentence you say you don't want to use them. How would you find an association if you don't use them as a covariate?

For my analysis I was planning on using cognitive scores that are adjusted according to published norms for age, sex, and education where possible. I do not want to use the scores as a covariate however, but simply find an association if possible. I'm assuming of course that I would use one of the one group FSGD formats https://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/fswiki/FsgdExamples? Thanks!
