Dear all,

I have two questions:

1. I used both version 5.3 and 5.1 to process the same batch of subjects,
the volume stats were quite different. For example, the white matter
hypointensity was 3865 mm3 in Freesurfer 5.1 aseg.stats, then it became
3118.9 mm3 in Freesurfer 5.3 aseg.stats. Other segments may not differ that
much, but generally 5.3 volumes are smaller than 5.1 ones. What changed in
5.3 during calculating the volumes? ( sorry, I didn't find the answer in
the release note, but if it is there, please let me know)

2. How does the Freesurfer segment the white matter hypointensity voxels?
I'm interested in this because I found some wm-hypointensities were in gray
matter or on the GM/WM boundary. I don't know how reliable the
auto-segmentation is, so I want to look into it.

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!

Best,
Hugh
