Unfortunately, this means that the CD/DVD drivers provided on the CD are do not
support your drive.

The LegacyCD is an “EL TORITO” boot disc. There is a small image of a floppy
diskette on the disc that is loaded by your BIOS at boot. This image boots a
then loads drivers to access the remainder of the CD.

You have a couple options top try:

1) You could try the LiteUSB or FullUSB image.

2) You can try the LiveCD. The LiveCD uses a different boot process. It also
includes a boot menu to either "Boot Into the Live Environment”, “Install to
Hard Disk” and “Install using Floppy Edition”. The Floppy Edition on the CD is
included in a Hard Disk Image. If you can boot that menu option, you may need
to exit the FE installer and restart it in advanced mode to change the target
hard drive.

3) Use the included Floppy Boot Disk Image provided in the ZIP download to
create a custom boot floppy. Once that is done, you can copy some proprietary
(not open source) CD/DVD drivers to the FREEDOS\BIN directory on the floppy
diskette. The CD initialization process used by the boot floppy (and installed
OS) will recognize a couple additional drivers that we cannot provide with the
install media. But, those drivers are freely available online. If one of those
drivers are present, it will be automatically tried at boot. Many users have
had good luck with using either OAKCDROM.SYS or VIDE-CDD.SYS when the drivers
we can supply do not support their hardware.

(Note: In addition to online copies, the OAKCDROM.SYS was also supplied on
various Windows boot floppy diskettes).
