I'm pretty sure no OS on the planet requires extended type 0x0F to use LBA, 
except

        Win95b
        Win98
        WinME

If you use none of above WinDOS, there's no use in using the non-standard 
0x0F type instead of the standard 0x05. Some partitioning tools will behave 
differently if the type is 0x0F instead of 0x05.

Most operating systems pay no attention to the extended type anyway. They 
just read the table entries to see where partitions start and end, though 
some read the type byte as a switch as to whether to investigate whether 
access might be provided, such as a drive letter, and subsequent attempt to 
read filesystem and mount appropriately. Linux doesn't seem to care about the 
type byte once a filesystem has been installed on a partition.
