I finally uploaded a new FreeDoom (0.8-beta1) + SMMU (3.30) package here:

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/1.1/repos/games/freedoom.new

I did not modify your "index.lst" file at all (nor anything else
external), so you may want to change that and test it first. If it
looks okay, you can delete the pre-existing old one and rename
freedoom.new to freedoom.zip .

freedoom.new 2012-Oct-30 19:20:16 11.8M

So it's slightly larger than before (32 MB unpacked vs. 26 MB) due to
newer .wad, but that's presumably no big deal.

I tried updating the .LSM, hopefully it's correct. Also, there were no
obvious files for a SMMU.DOC\ subdir (vs. LEGACY.DOC\), so I didn't
create that. And I didn't unpack any sources into /GAMES/FREEDOOM/ ,
only put the relevant .ZIPs and two very tiny patches and some notes
there. (As Eric says, most people don't want sources cluttering up
everything.)

And I did actually recompile this here with GCC 2.95.3 (DJDEV 2.03p2)
+ Allegro 3.12 + CWSDSTUB r7, and it seems to (mostly) work okay
(except under DOSEMU, meh). That was mainly to avoid a malloc error.

I'm open to comments and suggestions but am not really capable of
"maintaining" or bugfixing the .EXE itself.
