To answer the original question: In the US, it's illegal to download any copyrighted material (including abandonware games). In Canada, I believe it is okay to download, but not to share. Not sure about other countries.




Practically speaking, of course, I doubt the owners of these old DOS games will complain much. These days, no one sells DOS games. The copyright holders may no longer exist as an entity, for shareware games.
