But its not legal to distribute, so its moot. The issue with supplying 
source is allowing your software technology investment to be used freely on 
competitor's hardware. The purpose of developing software technology is to 
have an advantage over your competitors in selling your product. You 
develop software to make your hardware more attractive for sale. If 
everyone has the same software (ie most linux and freebsd ethernet cards 
and wan cards) then there is no incentive to spend dollars on software 
development.
