Sysinstall works fine _IF_IT_IS_IN_SYNCH_WITH_THE_REST_OF_YOUR_SYSTEM_.

Just rebuild sysinstall, like I told you to start with.  Or just bring 
the disks up by hand, which is much faster.  Or even try Warner's 
'diskprep' tool.
