I'm not going to change my vote at this point, but consider these points: 1) Why would doing a point release right after be less work and get more involvement? 2) Why do we think we will get two other mentor/IPMC votes if they review the dev-list and see this issue? 3) Why do we think we will get mentor/IPMC attention again right away with a follow-up point release 4) I have seen this issue twice in English, but wasn't able to reproduce it. 5) I would rather the next installer release coincide with a new Apache Flex SDK release like a 4.8.1 in a month or so from now.
To me, 7 RC's is not a lot. Sometimes, important bugs get found late in the game. Sure, it is frustrating, but you will certainly get enough PPMC votes on an RC8. However, right now we are waiting on getting IPMC votes and I don't know why they would vote just to get something out the door if it isn't handling strings properly.
