Flash player is closed source and will always be so yes, Flex will always depend on FP till some solution is found to output to another format besides SWF. Regarding multi-threading is known that in a near future (mid 2012) it will be part of Flash Player. Regarding bugs, there is a JIRA project at http://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/ -- João Fernandes
