there is no door closed forever. gplv2 code is still open source and
ffmpeg has many files with gplv2 copyright.

licensing between lgpl and gplv2 only really affects people who
sell/distribute ffmpeg.

since people who sell ffmpeg want a different license, they can pay to
have an author relicense their work. which has happened many times in
ffmpeg's 20+year history.
