Hello,

We have 3 lots on this auction.

Details of the auction are to be found at:

http://www.antiquarianauctions.com

Visit this site for fuller descriptions and images. You need to
register to take part in the auction and antiquarianauctions.com will
be pleased to assist you with the bidding process - which is actually
simplicity in itself. If you can log in, you can bid. Registration is
easy and the site does not ask for too many personal details.

This is their auction #74. It is now open for viewing with bidding
starting tomorrow Thursday 18th April 2019 at 16.30 GMT and closing one
week later on Thursday 25th April 2019 at 16.30 GMT (in both cases
that being 6.30 pm local time here in SA).

We have the following lots on offer:

Lot 26
#22756 D.A.M.L. CLEARING THE DISTRICT OF ANIMALS AND FOODSTUFFS.
Typed Letter Signed. one sheet typed blue on thin paper. A cyclostyled
copy with black ink signature (possibly rubber stamp). 330mm high x
207mm wide.
Piquetberg 31st March 1902.
Notice issued under Martial Law advising that all horses, mules, and
foodstuffs to be removed to Malmesbury, Hopefield, & Piquetberg, with
stated exemptions and penalties for non-compliance. Interesting that at
this late stage in the war British occupying forces were still
requisitioning supplies.

Lot 27
#22771 Christina Crawford. A REAL AND TRUE INFORMATION OF THE MOST
HORRID AND BARBAROUS MURDER Of Captain James Moodie Of Melsetter Upon
The Twenty Sixth October Last, 1725, Betwixt Twelve And Two Afternoon
At Kirkwall; Given In By Christina Crawford, Spouse To The Said Captain.
undated. paper watermarked 1814.
Autograph fair copy of deposition made by Christina Crawford. "Copy Of
An Original Paper Once In The Possession Of The Late James Moodie Esq
Of Melsetter." The original deposition was written by Christina
Crawford, wife of Commodore James Moodie(1645-1725), 7th Laird of
Melsetter, on his murder on 26th October 1725. Burrows records that on
the death of James Moodie in 1820, all letters and documents were sent
to Benjamin Moodie in South Africa. We note that the paper used is the
same type as occurring in many of the documents of/by Benjamin Moodie.

Lot 28
Unknown. ALS dd Anno 1773.
Four sides, one side written, one fold to 200mm high x 165mm wide.
Apparently concerns naval matters, but is written in Dutch. Scan on
request. (possession of Captain James Moodie of Melsetter).

Any additional information, images, assistance, as required in
connection with the above items and the bidding process can be
provided on request - including p&p estimates for overseas clients.

IMPORTANT: The items are on the auction and no pre-auction offers will
be considered. Items will, if unsold, revert to our previous listed
price and no post-auction offers will be considered. If you wish to
purchase an item at auction-level prices, please bid for it.

The auction allows 'proxy bids' whereby it judiciously spends up to your
maximum bid to stay just ahead of the other bidders - only as long as
they do not have a proxy bid in excess of yours. If you are the only
bidder then it will not exceed the reserve price until another bidder
enters a higher bid. Speak to us if you are unsure on how to use this
feature.

NO 'Buyers Premium' charged on this auction, which means that the
purchaser is paying the hammer price clear of the surcharge levied
by many other auction houses. Buyers Premium adversely affects
the prices bid to the detriment of the seller.

Bidding closes: Thursday 25th April 2019 16.30 GMT (6.30 pm local SA
time)
