Many thanks. Do you mind to elaborate a bit more on the solutions?  I don't 
think I can implement that without more help.

a) SendCoreEvents -  What do I have to do here?
b) Two layouts - does it mean that I have to get rid of the graphical login 
interface?  Is layout 1 a XFree86 config file?
