Hi. I just installed v8.0 for the PPC on an Oldworld Mac--a PowerComputing PowerBase 180 with a macally 10BaseT ethernet card. When the machine boots into Linux, eth0 won't start correctly. In the log, I see a message stating that eth0 startup is being delayed. For some reason, during the install, the network card wasn't recognized, so after installation, I entered the information manually. I created /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, and I altered /etc/modules.conf by adding the line "alias net ne2k-pci" to the end of the file. A reboot does not help. Once up in Linux, I issue the command "modprobe net." The correct driver loads so I then issue "/etc/init.d/network restart". The lo and eth0 interfaces start. At that point, I can ping my other machine. What am I missing? Why won't eth0 start during the boot process. Thanks. -- Hugo __________________________________________________ FREE voicemail, email, and fax...all in one place. Sign Up Now! http://www.onebox.com
