For the benefit of anyone who finds this thread via a google search:

1. I installed Mdk Freq 3
2. Forced an install of the stock 386 Redhat 7.1 kernel
3. Installed Clearcase 4.2 (and relinked the mvfs module)
4. Rejoiced loudly when it all worked.
