That's very interesting about the cord. Makes sense now that you say it. Then there is the matter of the extra hot water...maybe it makes sense integrate a coffee machine into it..

The Formula One A123 Systems cells, designed for use in the F1 kinetic energy recovery system, (KERS) that I had in the Killacycle were LiFePO4 and would discharge at ~500C. These 18700, ~1.5 A-hr cells would withstand a 500+ amp discharge until they were completely flat. Keep in mind, this was 20 years ago. Cell technology has FAR exceeded this now. I never tested the max charge rate, but I expect it to be at least 1/4 of the discharge rate, likely closer to 1/2. Maybe 200C or more. 50C would be like water off of a duck's back. The main limitation to fast charging is the charger and the charger cord. Not the cells in the car. The charger no doubt has some sort of associated battery bank to even out the peak load on the grid. Wouldn't surprise me if it the same battery they are using in the car, or perhaps the same cells. The charger cord is most certainly water cooled. When you get much over 50kW the charger cord has to be water cooled because the wire gauge gets too big to handle and the temperature gets beyond what is practical. Bill D.
