On a somewhat related subject, I finally got one of my charging wishes.
Well, actually, Margaret did.

A few weeks ago, she was on a longish solo road trip. We'd been to this
place before and had charged at the town's municipal carpark, so she planned
to park there again and charge.

This time, zilch. No power to the pedestal. Uh-oh.

Normally she'd fire up Chargemap and find a nearby station, but she didn't
have that mobile phone with her. Uh-oh again.

What do you do when you need gas and there's no filling station in sight?
Right, you ask someone.

So she popped into a tabac. Sure enough, two customers knew exactly where
the nearest (other) charging was, and gave her clear and explicit
directions.

Glory be, when she got there, she found what I've been asking for for years.
No smartphone app needed, no proprietary RFID card needed. She just tapped
her bank's debit card and plugged in.

Finally, EV charging that's on a par with ICEV filling stations. Charging is
normal and everyday, so normal people know where it is. And you pay for it
as easily as you pay for gas.

Hallelujah. More of this, please.

I distrust people who know well what God wants them to do, because
I notice that it always coincides with their own desires.
