Lee;

Glad to hear that you're still at it.
I just received (2) crates of (36) CALB 180 Ah LiFePo4 prismatic cells from
Battery Hookup.
(60) are going into my 72 Vega I converted about 12 years ago.
My Datsun which has (50) of these same cells is still going strong after (10)
years.
Range is down about 25%, but still has over a 60 mile range.

I haven't. I've been building them since the 1970's. :-)

Current projects are finishing up installing lithiums in my Lectric Leopard
(LeCar) EV, repairing a Solectria Force, and continuing to work on the Sunrise
EV2. I also have a couple GE Electraks and some electric bikes to tinker with.

But in general, people are much less likely to build anything themselves, much
less EVs. "Why do it yourself? Just buy it from somebody." In part, I can
understand this. Americans are (relatively) rich, and feel they don't have the
time to do things themselves. So they buy rather than build.

EVs have also improved a lot in the past decades. It's harder to justify
building your own that won't be up to the standards of a Tesla.

On the other hand... People *are* converting classic cars that they've owned
and loved for years. Replace that old unreliable ICE with electric power. It
doesn't have to be better than a Tesla; it just has to be better than it was as
an ICE!

EV parts are also far better, cheaper, and more available than ever. Thanks to
the rate at which Americans wreck cars, there are thousands of EV parts in
junkyards at low prices.
