All,
It's a few weeks since we successfully fixed the station, so I thought I
would summarize a bit.
- Here is the station:
https://www.plugshare.com/location/20748
Old Presidio Traders
J-1772
Shopping Center
26a Tubac Rd, Tubac, AZ 85646, USA
and I memorialized the fix in the description
"...2024-11-20 update: the station has been repaired by Sovereign
Electric in Tucson, using a part purchased at EVChargesolutions.com..."
I was glad to see a driver other than myself indicate a positive
charging experience on the plugshare check-in area, so that's a good way
for me to firm up that so far things are going ok.
- In part of the conversation with the technician who was sent out to
the site by Schneider Electric (whose contact info came through the
enphase/Clipper Creek website referred contractor list), he did also
bring up the issue that someone here brought up, which was that he
suspected what had gone wrong, or one thing, was the incorrect cable
winding issue.
- I do not think the site was repaired forever, and it can easily be
argued we should have replaced rather than fixed the station, but for
complicated reasons in the end we opted for a repair.
- It cost more to have someone do the repairs than someone had estimated
here, but it was not a terrible surprise.
- The equipment was sold to us by EVChargesolutions.com, and everything
went fine.
- I don't have the paperwork handy, but I think this was the exact part:
https://www.evchargesolutions.com/Degson-J1772-Level-2-Replacement-Cable-p/evcs-25cbl-a-02.htm
Description
Degson J1772 Connector
Amperage: 32A / 240VAC
Cable Length: 25'
Cable Specs: (UL) TYPE EVE 3Cx10AWG / 1x1BAWG, 105°C, 600v
- I like to buy made in USA where possible. One regret on the project
was that I didn't wait quite long enough to hear back from this company
which later confirmed to me that they did say:
"....We can make a 40 amp 25' replacement cable for your charger. It
would come with a J1772 plug on one end and bare wires for the
electrician to install on the other end. ..."
cost plus shipping quoted seemed competitive.

I did end up going with this, we'll see how it works out. They also
recommended a wall-anchored retractor to help with our cord management.

The eBay seller said that he got his cord from
EVChargeSolutions.com, presumably this one:
