I think that they probably consider it more important for the cars to look macho and aggressive, like their ICEVs do. Hate and rage are trendy now, don't you know. Hence big, heavy wheels and tires, a tall stance, ludicrous ground clearance, a boxy shape, and mean-looking front end treatments, all of which fight the air the car's going through.
