Here's a controller appropriate for a golf car or electric tractor, or even a very small, very light road vehicle.
I have had this for some years but it is barely used at all. This is a 300 amp 24-36 volt controller from the UK firm 4QD. The name notwithstanding it's actually a 2 quadrant controller. Full electronic reverse, full regen. Defaults to potentiometer (3-terminal) control with a reversing switch, but can be made into a joystick (center- off, or "wig-wag') by changing a jumper on the logic board. Uses a 5-10k potentiometer (not included) for speed control. It's primarily intended for permanent magnet motors, but you can use it with a sepex wound field motor if you handle the field control separately. I guess you could even use it with a series motor, but you'd need contactors for reversing.. Size 11" x 4" x 2.5" Priced to move at $120, cheaper than the Chinese Curtis knockoffs on Ebay, cheaper than most used Curtii, and a fraction of the new cost. Shipping extra, but it's not very heavy.
