It will be interesting to see where they go with it. It looks like it has good ground clearance and ample space for 4 people and cargo. And, why don't they make the front more aerodynamic and get better high speed range ? I would be interested if they can get high safety ratings and ensure 250 mile range at freeway speeds.

Subject: [EVDL] EVLN: Citroen revives the DS21 attitude, plugs it in

It's just a "concept." Some might say that's a good thing. Quirky would be
one word for the appearance. But at least they're rethinking vehicles, and
thinking EV.

https://insideevs.com/news/613348/citroen-oli-electric-concept-urban-pickup/

"the key considerations ... were to keep it light, small, simple, affordable
and also to make it out of as many recycled materials as possible ...

"You could argue a vertical screen is less aerodynamic, but we don“t expect
people to drive this kind of vehicle at 200 km/h ...

"Citroen says it has a 40 kWh battery pack that thanks to its low weight of
under 1,000 kg (2,200 pounds) can take it up to 400 km (258 miles) on one
charge ... 10 kWh/100 km, or around 6.2 miles/kWh ..."

That's about 160 Wh / mile, or about what a Geo Metro-based Solectria Force
of similar weight - and certainly better aero - could do in 1991.

Am I the only one who thinks that 2200 lb being considered "low weight" in a
vehicle is kind of pitiful? Seems to me the original VW Beetle was ~1600
lb, and I owned an Opel Kadett that weighed in at around 1500 lb. I think
the original Suzuki Swift was something like 1380 lb. Granted that they
weren't carrying 40 kWh batteries, but the Citicar hauled 500 lb of
batteries and weighed 1300 lb.
